Tips And Tricks For A Successful Napa Valley Wine Tour

Even if one is a wine expert, or doesn't know anything about wine or wine making but is willing to learn, Napa Valley is a wonderful destination to plan a vacation. The preconceived notion that one must be a wine expert to enjoy a tour of Napa Valley is far from the truth; even without intimate knowledge of wine production, a great time can still be had by all. A vacation in Napa Valley could be considered a great way to gather wines and information needed to start a wine cellar at home, as well.

The best advice if one is planning a trip to Napa Valley is to plan ahead and make reservations in advance. Because of its most recent surge in popularity, more than five million people a year make the trip to Napa Valley, so reservations is the primary necessity.

Highway 29 is the home to most of the wineries in Napa Valley. The Napa Valley region is only thirty five miles long. Traffic can be easily navigated on off peak hours, but with the popularity of Napa Valley, many construction projects as well as road construction have begun and take a lot of time and space. Plan for any road delays normally involved with road construction. Even during delays, time can be used to read up on the different wineries located in Napa Valley while waiting.

In order to offset any problems that can come with construction delays, it is usually a good idea to start the day with a full tank of gas. No gas stations are located at the wineries, so fill up before visiting them.

There are several items that can be packed in insure a pleasurable day can be had. First, pack a lunch, or some food for snacks; wineries may offer some small bits of food, but not always in substantial amounts. There are also many fine areas of breathtaking beauty that people can use for a picnic. It is also a good idea to bring bottled water; a lot of time will be spent walking while visiting the many wineries and the area, as beautiful as it is, is still considered quite warm and dry. Don't let thirst be a major issue when visiting the wineries.

Also bring along a camera. While known for its wineries, Napa Valley also has some of the most beautiful sceneries and landscapes in all of Northern California.

Make sure to bring a lot of cash in small denominations like ones and fives; wine tastings are not always free, and having a lot of small bills will allow one to enjoy plenty of wine tasting opportunities.
